Totito is a beautiful excuse to bring together much of what I love about life. From of course the design, the taste for the magic of the children’s world, the taste and dedication for the details, admiring the greatness in everyday life, illustrating, the taste for textiles and of course my love for animals, being the burrito one of the ones that fill my heart the most. Totito is therefore, in all his silhouette, a beautiful pleasure that I have the opportunity to share and through which I can do and contribute something for this beautiful and so much less precious equine.
During the pandemic, with all the difficulties, it was a time when many of us were able to reflect and even have time to engage in desired but forgotten activities. It was during this time that I discovered Burrolandia, an active refuge for the care and protection of the Mexican donkey. I quickly and internally committed myself to help as much as I could. It made me recognize that more people are interested in the sad lives of donkeys and I was thrilled to know that I had the opportunity to help those who help.
Burrolandia is located in Otumba, near Mexico City, known for being the “city of donkeys”, a place where donkeys have been traded for many years…. Now, through private initiative, people who dedicate their lives to the protection of donkeys have a space with more than 90 rescued donkeys as of October 9, 2023. This work requires help, too many cases that require the protection of the donkeys. Burrolandia receives visitors throughout the year, it is advisable to mark before visiting but of course there are always people attending the donkeys, you can also sponsor donkeys!
I got to know Burrolandia through the networks, which by the way are very well managed because you get to know the donkeys which all have their name, all have their history and they show it to you over time, where they also teach you about the space, their visits and activities. The day I got to know the space on site I realized what a great job they do, the work it is to maintain and care for so many donkeys and the need to help more people know the space and visit them.
As Totito, brand that also has as emblem to his donkey, we made a special collaboration, that you only find there of 5 personalizations of 5 donkeys that have in their shelter, so that when you go and visit you take home a totito of burrolandia: CLARA, LLUVIA, RELÁMPAGO, PEPITA and FLORINDIO.
Burrolandia has allowed me to do something concrete for the donkeys and I will continue to see projects where I can do something for their welfare, in the same vein I hope that those who go or meet them will open their hearts and act in favor of their welfare.
