Call for Children’s Illustration

CALL FOR CHILDREN’S ILLUSTRATION

In Totito Totó we live life through amazement, enjoying the beauty in everyday life, the ephemeral details that nature offers us, as well as the frankness that children’s strokes transmit.

We propose the call “MADE OF MAGIC” to encourage the creation of art at an early age as well as the motivation of children and their tutors to promote expression through art. We are interested in the child’s frank expression through drawing.

The call has the basis for participants to strengthen their self-esteem from the dedication and creativity to make their illustration with the greatness of their own expression, competing individually to have personal artistic achievements. Under this premise, the call makes a small publication to leave a mark on the creative path of our young artists. In the same vein, we will exhibit the selected pieces that transmit the theme with greater artistic clarity to share and strengthen the children’s creative community.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Original and unpublished works may be submitted by boys and girls from 4 to 12 years old, residents of planet earth in their corresponding category: chiquito category from 4 to 7 years old and pequeñito category from 8 to 12 years old.

Each participant may submit a maximum of two original and unpublished illustrations that are not committed in other contests pending adjudication and on which the author has the free disposal of all the exploitation rights in any form and in its different modalities.

The theme of the drawing contest is to make an illustration based on the story of Totito the donkey:

“Totito is a little donkey who wants to be a unicorn,

think it will be wonderful,

but something amazing is yet to be known;

that which seeks outside

Is the magic inside him.”

The technique is free.

The size of the illustration is free, with a maximum of 80 x 80cm.

The registration of the work will be done only through the link on our website in the ‘Calls & Workshops’ section at:

Registrations by other means are not accepted.

The registration link includes a section to attach a digital image of the illustration. Remember that a bad photograph, low light, pixelated or with objects around can detract from the beauty of the work. Important: the work must have the author’s name and age on the back of the illustration.

In case of registering 2 works per author (optional), it must be done in the same registration link, in case of registering more than one author, make individual registrations.

The maximum weight of each photograph of the work must not exceed 10 MB. Once the work has been submitted, it cannot be corrected or withdrawn from participation in the call for entries. We strongly recommend that you review it before sending it.

Works will be received until the closing date of the call, September 18, 2023, until 23.59 hrs. (local time CDMX).

COST

The registration fee for each participant is $150 pesos, payment is made through the same registration link. Under the premise of taking actions that strengthen art as an expression, the total amount collected will be destined to the promotion of children’s art, where more children have the opportunity to express themselves and grow in the artistic field.

JURY

The The jury panel is composed of relevant personalities in the field of art, promotion and dissemination of artistic and children’s expression, as well as in the academic area. The members of the jury for this call are Ana Garco, director of La Esquina, museum of popular Mexican toys, Ana Luelmo, director of FIL Niños, Alejandro Magallanes, artist and illustrator, Carmen Vázquez, director of El Globo, children’s museum in Guadalajara, Norma Guinto, director of Habitat Learning Community, Monique Zepeda therapist, author of children’s books and Daniela Cordero designer, director of Totito Totó.

SELECTION AND RECOGNITION

Leaving a mark on the creative path of our participants, all those registered will be named in the publication of the call for entries, as well as in the exhibition(s) to be held after the closing of the call for entries. In addition, Totito Totó® and La Esquina®, Museo de Juguete Popular Mexicano in San Miguel de Allende, are offering discounts to all registered participants.

The illustrations that most clearly represent the essence of the story of Totito el burrito, will have a greater presence in the publication as well as a physical presence with the participating illustration in the exhibition(s), works that must be sent to the organizing committee at the time of selection.

The illustration of one participant in each category that is selected by the jury members as the one that best represents the conceptual and aesthetic expression of its category, will be awarded:

+ Acquisition award of the works selected by category to become part of the Totito Totó art collection.

+ 1 Kit from the recent Totito Totó collection.

+ 1 set of POSCA markers.

+ Annual Membership of La Esquina, Museo de Juguete Popular Mexicano in San Miguel de Allende.

+ Special presence in the publication of the call for applications.

+ Special presence at the exhibition(s).

+ Possibility for the creation of Totito Totó’s product from your selected piece.

SELECTED ILLUSTRATIONS

The result of the selected pieces will be announced through our Instagram social network @totito_toto.store and in our ‘Calls & Workshops’ section at www.totito-toto.store from August 1, 2023.

Participants with illustrations selected for participation in the publication and exhibition must send their illustration mounted on rigid material or framed (with frame color: natural pine wood, black or white, with a maximum thickness of 1/2 inch wide, without glass and in case of illustration on canvas, it will be sent mounted, unframed. The selected pieces not received by the established dates will not be part of the publication or of the exhibitions resulting from the call for entries.

Likewise, such person/s expressly authorizes Totito Totó to use their names and images for advertising purposes. In addition, he/she agrees to participate personally or virtually in the presentation and promotion events that Totito Totó considers appropriate. The participating illustrations can be viewed on our website. The selected artwork submitted may be collected after the exhibitions have been completed, at the latest 12 months after submission, and arrangements will be made to collect them within this time. Participation in this call implies knowledge and acceptance of these terms and conditions.

By registering to the call for entries, all participants, through a parent or guardian, give their express consent to transfer the rights to use the illustration, images or drawings resulting from the call for entries for reproduction, distribution, public communication and/or transformation as required.

Once the registered illustrations have been received, their timely dissemination and promotion will begin. Totito Totó, as organizer of the contest, ensures that the terms of the contract are fair to both parties with respect to publishing rights worldwide, in order to expand and strengthen the children’s creative community.
